After a successful career, I had trouble becoming a mum
Motherhood is not an academic subject to be learned through books. And yet, that’s how I’ve approached it.
“I’m doing everything to have my daughter back in my care.”
They removed my baby girl. She was only three days old.
I had three kids in primary school. This diagnosis was not what I wanted.
I take a deep breath of the crisp morning air and look up at the sky. It’s a beautiful day. The tears I was holding back begin tumbling down my cheeks.
Both my babies were in hospital recovering from major surgeries at the same time
“Before the operator said anything, my eyes filled with tears, as I knew in my heart that something was very wrong.”
What my grandson’s death taught me
Through the anguish and depression that ended my grandson’s life, he caught a glimpse of a Father who loved him.
What having kids taught me about my relationship with food
“Food is fuel, it’s energy and it’s healing, but most of all, food is the greatest form of self-love.”
“I felt like a failure as a parent.”
When I look at what is happening right now, it’s effortless to get caught in the trap of thinking there is no hope. Then things like this happen . . .
My journey as a single dad
“Ultimately, I had to make a choice on whether to stay focused on raising our child or mend a fractured relationship with my partner. I chose Shyvana.”
What my dad taught me about being a parent
Motherhood has inspired me to give my dad the kudos that is long overdue.
When do you know your family is complete?
I thought three children was what I wanted—but my heart had other plans. Losing two babies along the way however, wasn’t part of it.
Why I don’t feel the need to be a perfect mum
It was an off-hand remark by another mum, but one that gave me plenty of guilt and changed my life forever.
“My one parenting regret”
“She needs to still have a relationship with him, but even letting her see or talk to him can mean days, or even weeks of problems.”
