We’ve all been there—the kids are a bit grizzly, the weather is gloomy and you need a “magic trick” to turn the mood around. Enter: the ultimate quick and yummy hot chocolate.
This isn’t one of those fancy, complicated recipes that requires a culinary degree and a pristine kitchen. It’s a simple, hug-in-a-mug that you can whip up in five minutes flat. Whether it’s a post-school treat or a “just because” bribe to get through a rainy afternoon, this creamy cocoa is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder (sifted )
- 1 tbsp carob powder
- 2½ cups soy milk
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 tbsp honey
Method
- Add ½ cup soy milk to a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the carob powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and honey. Stir until melted through.
- Add the remaining soy milk and cook over medium heat until it begins to bubble.
- Adjust flavours to taste.
- Serve between two mugs and top with whipped coconut cream and chocolate powder.
