You may never be able to leave when you visit Australia’s largest playground. Thankfully they have a cafe and a night market too.

Imagine over 10,000 square metres of air-conditioned indoor fun, including climbing walls, a ninja course, trampolines and even a ceiling-mounted air coaster. Yes, your kids will never want to leave this haven of fun.

Construction has completed for Area 51, touted as “Australia’s largest indoor family entertainment centre”. This massive, state-of-the-art entertainment space is located in the former Bunnings in Underwood, Brisbane (sorry Sydney and Melbourne mums) and opened its doors in June 2022.

What to expect at Area 51

Organisers promise Area 51 will transform from being a weekend escape for all DIY-ers to “a paradise for children and parents”. Floor area that used to house shelves of plywood, door handles and colourful paint samples will instead feature:

  • Multi-level soft playground
  • Ninja course
  • Toddler zone
  • Climbing arena
  • High ropes course
  • Trampolines
  • Air coaster
  • Multi sports court
  • Sensory room
  • Bouldering course
  • VR theme park

True to its promise of being an indoor entertainment area for the entire family, it will also offer courses such as:

  • Ballet
  • Stretching
  • Latin dancing
  • Ballroom dancing
  • Pilates
  • K-pop
  • Jazz
  • Hip Hop
  • Zumba
  • Karate
  • Boxing

There are even early education classes for children six months and under, “where they can experience activities that promote body development, sensory experience through musical touch and gross motor movements“.

The area also has a 300-seat cafe and Brisbane’s first Asian night market to replenish all the energy expended. You can also choose from 10 party rooms to throw an unforgettable birthday party.

If you’re planning a visit to Area 51, be sure to send us a review and pics!
